Prophet
Foaled in 1980 (approx.)
15.1 hand Chestnut Arab Gelding
Prophet & Ladyhawk
Prophet came with a possible right shoulder injury. He's now sound - has a lovely lazy extended trot and a personable manner that makes him a super school horse. He’s also one I have to watch as he gets fat without any effort - but I suspect Prophet will be a long time contributor to my kid programs. Not to mention, my favorite ride as well!
Prophet had bonded with and protected Ladyhawk. When she passed, he was distraught for days, crying for her every night, rushing to the paddock where she died every morning. PC and Sunny tried to comfort him, but he was inconsolable for a long time. When Chacha came to TGC in November, almost 9 months after Ladyhawk passed, I put him next to her as I saw a mare who needed a protector. I swear, he might as well have asked me what I was thinking - this mare will never last! He tried not to be friendly with her, but she was needy and adored him, and eventually he succumbed to the adoration (as men will) and became her buddy. They don't hang together in the paddock, but he escorts her back every night, and understands that we will not get her in her stall until he is in his.
Please click this link to see Prophet, in November of 2009, strutting his stuff at a community Horse Show - the old boy still has it!
O my. We get a professional photographer out to take his picture, and this is what we get! But like the artist she is, Dee Ann Bradley caught the essence of Prophet .... the little booger...
Prophet fell for Ingrid right away, followed her like a puppy thru the paddock.
Here's Prophet trying to mooch a treat and ham for the camera, and keep an eye on Topper, his girlfriend now, all at the same time. What a character!
Prophet is being almost half-sponsored for Samantha by her aunt, Diane Mitchell. Thank you Diane for helping our darling Prophet.
