Jeepers' previous owner, twice removed, placed him with other owners when his
ringbone was in an acute phase, and he was very lame. The second owners placed him with Under
the Angels Wings Rescue, where his lameness issues mostly resolved. UAWR worked with him and
wanted to give him a little job, but the first owner was violently opposed to this. In summer of
2007, UAWR came under some hard times, and had to find homes for about 8 of their horses including
Jeeps. I had thought I had a home for him. It fell through, and then Sharla
Sanders stepped up with a partial sponsorship for him, so Jeeps came to TGC.
Jeeps is clearly well past the acute phase of his ringbone - after 13 days at TGC he
is fast, nimble, and very much in love with Queenie. He hasn't taken one wrong step, and is
healthy and fat. For TGC, Jeeps is relatively young at 16, and I suspect little by little he
will take over a very dominant position in this herd. Right now, he's mostly focused on
keeping Queenie for his own. I feel as Courtney at UAWR did that he will thrive on some light
work, and in this way will help ease the burden of riding lessons currently carried by Prophet,
Falcon and Sunny, all much older than him.
