Since last July, the Probation Department of Riverside County has been attempting to
bring a busload of kids to TGC, to provide a reward, and positive experience for those kids who are
fulfilling their probationary obligation. Many appointments were made and never panned out. But on
April 7, 2004, Deputy Doug Monte of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department "Giving Youth a
Second Chance" program, and Jo Ann Kent, Deputy Probation Officer with the Lake Elsinore Youth
Accountability Team, brought up 8 kids to visit the horses. Please check out the website for photos
of this wonderful day, and these terrific kids. They fed the horses, groomed them, cleaned stalls,
and finally had some fun riding Sunny and Victor. You should get a good laugh out of it. The kids
were all boys except Rebecca, which is VERY unusual for me. Probably 98% of the kids showing an
interest in horses are girls - and trust me, boys are very different. Just the hysterical laughter
every time a horse passed wind .... that’s boys. I’m grinning just remembering it.
